Penn State’s Physical Activity and Public Health Lab is conducting a survey to understand some of details about individual, social, communal, and environmental factors that influence physical activity, exercise, and sport participation among sexual and/or gender diverse (SGD) adults (i.e., lesbian, gay, transgender, etc.). We would like to use this information in the future to develop opportunities for promotion and advocation of meeting physical activity guidelines in SGD populations. Below you will find a link to an online survey. The survey takes 10-15 minutes to complete and asks about your current physical activity levels and why you choose to be active. Please note that if you like, repost, or comment on this post, you may be publicly associated with this project, regardless of whether or not you choose to participate.
If you are interested in participating and/or have any questions about the survey or project, please email Keegan Peterson (PI) at kvp5394psu.edu. |
This qualitative project, titled “Gender Affirming Integration of HIV and Cancer Healthcare among Transgender and Nonbinary (Trans) People of Color in Washington,” is intended to explore social determinants of healthcare inequities among trans populations of color to guide HIV, gender-affirming care, and cancer prevention intervention efforts. We would like to understand how to best integrate these efforts to meet the needs of trans adults, and to address personal, social, environmental, structural, and economic factors that impact the use of these services to improve delivery. We are looking to recruit 30 transfeminine, transmasculine, and nonbinary individuals of color who have experience with navigating cancer screening, prevention, and/or treatment services. While this flyer being distributed is patient-facing, we are also looking to conduct interviews with 10 providers and other healthcare-related stakeholders who engage with trans patients in cancer screening and treatment.

This is a national study of people living with HIV who are on the transfeminine gender spectrum and are in romantic partnerships of six months or more. The focus is on how the quality of intimate partnerships affect HIV care and overall viral load. The study will be conducted through online surveys and mailed-in samples.

The LGBTQI+ Perception Index (GBPI), is now open.
The GBPI is a survey that gives the global LGBTQI+ community an opportunity to share their voice by answering six short questions about safety, acceptance, fear, and experiences with violence and discrimination. The GBPI underwent rigorous review by Franklin & Marshall College's Institutional Review Board to ensure respondents' safety. The work is also partly funded by the GHRI grant from USAID. They are currently looking for responses from Idaho. In 2022, we received a statistically significant number of responses from Idaho. However, this year they are experiencing low response rates, which puts Idaho at risk of being excluded from our 2024 findings. To take the survey, visit our GBPI website, click the button of your desired language, and complete the questions. The survey is available until December 19, 2024. It takes 2-5 minutes to complete and is anonymous. Responses on the GBPI are used to inform policy and research and to advance LGBTQI+ human rights for all. |

We acknowledge that Inland Oasis is located on the ancestral homelands of the Nimiipuu (Nez Perce) and Schitsu’umsh (Coeur d’Alene) tribes. We acknowledge that the region in which we live is named after the Palus (Palouse) tribe, who refused to cede their land and were wiped out by the US Government. We acknowledge the tribal history here, and work to respect their ancestors, as well as the diverse and vibrant Native communities who make their home here today.
