Officers of the Board
Board President - Kathy Sprague
Kathy (she/her) is older than the Stonewall Riots (barely), the HIV crisis that killed many of her friends, and older than legal same sex marriage in the US. She and her wife Tabitha were the first couple in the state to file a marriage license after the Supreme Court stay was lifted in Idaho in 2015. But, they still mark their anniversary from the date of their first ceremony in 1991.
She is also aware that her great grandparents homesteaded on stolen land but very proud of her father’s life work of repatriating grave goods and ancestral remains to the original inhabitants. Kathy grew up on the Palouse and after a short time away returned to open Safari Pearl in 1988. She and Tabitha own both Safari Pearl and Eclectica as well as two dogs, multiple cats between the store space and their home, and more ducks than they probably should. They share their holidays with friends and students who can’t make the trek home. Their TabiKat drag shows have wowed audiences and built community for 29 years now. Sober for 16 years, Kathy probably will continue to try fixing what she feels she damaged during her drinking years. As a result she has cooked Thanksgiving dinner for over 500 people, started a food pantry, and rescued semi-feral chickens on the hillside behind her home. Her goal at age 60 is to stop volunteering and spend more time at home with Tabitha and their ducks. This will require other people to volunteer and take on more responsibility. You can click [here] to contact Inland Oasis about volunteering. |
Board Vice President - Nick Koenig
Nick Koenig (they/them) is currently a graduate student at the
University of Idaho studying tree ring sciences, climate change, and
queer ecologies. Nick originally got involved with Inland Oasis through
volunteering at the West Side Food Pantry and fell in
love with the community of volunteers at IO. Outside of community
organizing for the Palouse, Nick enjoys dancing to disco music, trail
running, and working with textiles.

Board Treasurer - Lisa Morse
Lisa (she/her) moved to Moscow in 1998 for school, and never got around to leaving. She loves reading, baking, and dogs. She can often be seen around Moscow followed by a murder of crows that she befriended during the COVID pandemic. Lisa's bucket list consists of various animals she wants to befriend, with sloths and capybaras at the top. She lives with her husband, their son, and dog Dug.
Lisa joined the board in 2017 after attending her first drag bingo and having such a great time, she couldn't stay away. |
Board Secretary - Ceara Maxwell
Ceara (pronounced K-ear-a) (she/her) arrived in the Palouse in 2010 to attend WSU and has since felt a strong connection to the area. She enjoys spending time with her dog and cat, and makes an effort to go foraging for mushrooms in the woods whenever possible. In addition, she likes to work on wood projects in her garage and volunteers at community events whenever she can.
After attending their first Pride in the Park event in 2023, Ceara made it a personal mission to become an integral part of the LGBTQIA+ community on the Palouse. This journey began with joining the Inland Oasis team in early 2024, and she now proudly serves as their Secretary after responding to the need for officers within the non-profit organization. Her goals for the upcoming year include organizing the best Pride weekend the Palouse has ever seen and creating new and engaging activities for people of all ages within the LGBTQIA+ community in the Palouse area. |
Board Members
Board Member - Aquasha DeLusty
Aquasha DeLusty (she/her) is our Bingo and Brunch Coordinator, and believes that fostering safe spaces and resources for LGBTQIA+ community members of all ages is important.
With over two decades of performance experience on the Palouse, she not only entertains but also actively contributes to the community's well-being. Her involvement extends beyond the stage, as she has played a pivotal role in fundraising and planning support, with a special emphasis on Palouse Pride. |
Board Member - Jessica Legault
Jessica (she/her) owns the local bbq restaurant "The Smoke Ring", and her goal is to bring BBQ back to the Palouse. She also helps teach young passionate cooks who want to be a chef. During Jess’s free time, she enjoys going on hikes with her German Shepherd – Angus, camping, snowboarding, and just relaxing to binge watch some Netflix on the couch with her fiancé. You can regularly find Jess in the kitchen experimenting with new ideas for her business, as well as for something different for dinner. Jessica joined Inland Oasis to help give back to the community and be part of something that she finds valuable. She also wanted to join to share her knowledge of food and food safety with the West Side Food Pantry.

We acknowledge that Inland Oasis is located on the ancestral homelands of the Nimiipuu (Nez Perce) and Schitsu’umsh (Coeur d’Alene) tribes. We acknowledge that the region in which we live is named after the Palus (Palouse) tribe, who refused to cede their land and were wiped out by the US Government. We acknowledge the tribal history here, and work to respect their ancestors, as well as the diverse and vibrant Native communities who make their home here today.
