Inland Oasis History
Incorporated in 2004, Inland Oasis is the successor to a rich lineage of groups on the Palouse dating back to 1976. We moved into our current home in 2020 and immediately started the renovation process to turn it into a community center, commercial kitchen, and food pantry.
The first Palouse Pride was held in 1992 and was little more than a gathering of friends for a picnic in a park. Since then, it has changed and grown to a multi-day event where hundreds of people come together to celebrate the queer community.

We acknowledge that Inland Oasis is located on the ancestral homelands of the Nimiipuu (Nez Perce) and Schitsu’umsh (Coeur d’Alene) tribes. We acknowledge that the region in which we live is named after the Palus (Palouse) tribe, who refused to cede their land and were wiped out by the US Government. We acknowledge the tribal history here, and work to respect their ancestors, as well as the diverse and vibrant Native communities who make their home here today.
